Volunteering

Volunteers are at the heart of what makes the Open Door Centre such a special place. Each person brings their own contribution, and we would love to invite you to explore volunteering for as little as a couple of hours a week or more if you would like!

From the start, the reason for volunteering in the Centre has not just been to make tea and coffee, serve delicious, affordable food and help in the Centre’s modern kitchen. CCB’s current vision statement makes clear that our aim is for ‘The Transformation of Barnet and beyond, with the love of Jesus, one life at a time ‘.

In the Café: This involves serving customers, clearing tables - and chatting with customers when time permits.

In the Bar area: This involves taking orders, operating the coffee machine and cash register (including the Contactless card machine) - and again chatting with customers when time permits. Actually, it’s probably chatting with customers that makes the Centre so special! 

In the Kitchen: This mostly involves washing up and helping Carin, with any simple food preparation, all under her able direction. ​
